Founder note

I wasn't looking for more products.
I was looking for fewer, better ones.

Navigating the pace of modern life and motherhood, I found myself drawn to rituals that helped me slow down and feel like me again: hot yoga, sauna, yoga nidra and running in nature. They didn't ask anything of me. They were an invitation to reconnect with myself.

Yet the products around these rituals often felt disconnected from the experience itself. Synthetics against sweaty skin. Plastics everywhere. “Natural” alternatives that didn't perform, didn't feel good, didn't last, or weren't natural at all. Often, all of the above. More than once, they disappeared into the back of my drawers.

I wanted products that felt as good as the practices they supported. Quietly beautiful, effortless and reliable. They needed to work without compromising my health or the planet, and be good enough to reach for again and again.

I kept searching and waiting for someone else to make what I couldn't find. Eventually, I was done waiting. I leaned back into my engineering roots and the way I've spent my career working: understanding the real problem, questioning assumptions and building better answers with the right people. I channelled that energy into building the company I had been searching for.

I don't expect to have every answer. What drives me is the chance to keep learning, to question materials, test ideas and work alongside people who know their craft deeply. The work should be rigorous, but also open, generous and enjoyable.

The future does not need more stuff. It needs fewer, better objects: considered in every detail, made to perform and made to stay with us long enough to become part of our life stories.

My aim for TEJ is to stay curious and keep pushing what's possible, alongside a community of people who care deeply.

Philosophy

TEJ is inspired by tejas (तेजस्), the Vedic idea that radiance, vitality and clarity are not chased — they emerge once the conditions are right.

That philosophy became the foundation of TEJ.

We believe wellness doesn't come from endless optimisation. It comes from creating the conditions for your body to return to its natural state of clarity, vitality and balance.

Today, that means looking beyond the ritual itself and questioning the objects that surround it. What they're made from. How they're made. And whether they truly deserve a place in our daily lives.

Before anything earns the TEJ name, it must answer three simple questions.

We believe the materials that surround the body matter.

Every material is considered through the lens of human health, environmental responsibility and long-term integrity. We prioritise renewable, traceable and thoughtfully sourced natural materials wherever possible, while embracing innovation where it meaningfully improves the outcome.

Because performance should never come at the expense of people or the planet.

Beautiful products aren't enough.

Every object has to solve a real problem and hold up to the conditions of the ritual: heat, cold, water, steam and years of repetition. We study thermal behaviour, weight, balance and how a material ages, then engineer against it.  We test prototypes in real sessions rather than in renders.

Performance is the quiet part. It creates the conditions for the ritual to do its work.

Design is how an object earns its place in your life. Craft is what gives it a life of its own.

We believe exceptional materials deserve exceptional makers. That's why we seek out craftspeople whose expertise has been refined over generations, combining traditional craftsmanship with thoughtful engineering to create products of enduring quality. Every detail has a purpose. Nothing unnecessary. Nothing overlooked.

Because the best ritual objects don't become possessions. They become part of the ritual itself.
